| 内容記述 | 本稿では、Disney版Beauty and the Beastについて論じる。Beauty and the Beastは、概してフランスの民話の1つだと思われがちだが、プロットには、古代ローマの寓話との類似が見られる。また、藤原真実は、ヴィルヌーヴ夫人（1695―1755年）が書いた先行作品について、よく知られるボーモン夫人（1711―1780年）による創作フェアリーテイルは、このヴィルヌーヴ版を縮小したものだと指摘している。ボーモン版以外にも、本作品には、映画化作品（その多くは基本的にボーモン版に基づいている）も含め、多様な版が存在する。 最初に、Beauty and the Beastの多様な版について簡略に紹介し、次に、本作品の2つのDisney版、すなわち、Gary TrousdaleとKirk Wise監督のアニメーション映画（1991年）とBill Condon監督の実写映画（2017年）を論じる。分析する要素は、ヒロインBelle（Beauty）の人物造型、Beastの人物造型、両者が関係性の変化を通して遂げる相互成長の3点である。分析の過程で、アニメーション版と実写版を比較しつつ、映像技術にも言及しながら、最終的にDisney版の特徴を明らかにしていく。 |

| 内容記述 | In this article, I shall discuss the Disney versions of Beauty and the Beast. Although this story is generally regarded as a French folk tale, the plot is similar to that of an ancient Roman allegory. According to Mami Fujiwara, there is the preceding work which was written by Madame de Villeneuve (1695―1755) and the well-known literary fairy tale, which was written by Madame de Beaumont (1711―1780), is the short version of the Villeneuve version. In addition to the Beaumont version, there are several versions of Beauty and the Beast, including film-adaptations, and most of them seem to be basically based on the Beaumont version. First, several versions of Beauty and the Beast are briefly introduced, then two Disney film-adaptations of this story, an animated film which was directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise (1991) and a live-action film which was directed by Bill Condon (2017), are examined. The whole analysis is divided into three sections: first, the portrayal of the heroine called Belle (Beauty); second, the characterisation of the Beast; third, the mutual growth of both protagonists through the changing relationship between them. In the analysis, two versions are compared and contrasted, and the cinematic techniques are also touched on. As a consequence, the distinguishing features of the Disney versions of Beauty and the Beast are elucidated. |
