| 内容記述 | ビブリオバトルとは、自分が興味を持ち選んだ本の素晴らしさを発表しあう、勉強会の一種である。その場でチャンプ（チャンピオン）本を決めることで、ゲーム性もあるのが特徴である。 筆者は、2018年度から「日本語技法d」の授業を担当し、対面授業のなかでビブリオバトルを実施してきた。その目的は、日本語の技法の中でも「話す」「聞く」技法を伸ばすことである。対面授業では、教室内で小グループに分かれて実施した。その結果、学生から「話す」「聞く」力がついた実感が得られたとのリアクションがあった。また、他学生と読書を通じて交流ができ楽しかったと、好評であった。 2020年度、筆者は、コロナ禍の中で広く普及したZoomを使用するオンライン授業で、幾つかの工夫を施してビブリオバトルを実施した。本稿は、その工夫を含むビブリオバトル実践の概要とその考察を述べたものである。 オンラインのために工夫した主な点は、①Zoomのブレイクアウトセッション機能を用いて事前に学生同士1：1の発表練習を行ったこと、②発表時は小さなグループではなく、Zoom画面の全員に向かって発表することで、クラス全員の発表を共有したことである。 Zoom授業の成果としては、ビブリオバトルの基本目標（①読書を楽しむ②自分の読書の楽しさを他者に伝える③他者の読書の楽しさを共有する）を、概ね達成することができた。これは、オンライン授業でも、「話す」「聞く」力を伸ばす授業の質を保持することができたことを意味する。同時に、コロナ禍にあってクラスの交流や連帯感が感じにくい中でも、共に学ぶ環境と一体感を醸成することができたと考えている。これは、授業実施当時、社会的にも問題となっていた、学生の孤独感や、質問や交流がしにくい一方的な授業（オンライン授業）への不満の解消にも役立つものである。 |

| 内容記述 | “Biblio Battle” is a study method by which participants present their favorite books to each other with a focus on what impressed them. It has game features with a “champ book” (“Champion Book of the Day”) being selected by the participants. Since 2018, the author has been in charge of the “Japanese language techniques (d)” course, and has used Biblio Battle in the face-to-face classes with the purpose of enhancing Japanese language techniques; in particular, speaking and listening. Students in class were divided into several small groups. At the end of the course, the students gave positive feedback that their speaking and listening skills had improved and that they enjoyed the intensive discussions on the topic of books. In 2020, online Zoom classes became widely used due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the author began using a version of Biblio Battle modified for the online environment. This paper describes how Biblio Battle was modified and examines the results. Major modifications for the online style were: (a) using the “breakout session” in Zoom, where students were able to rehearse their presentations on a one-on-one basis; and (b) bringing the students back in the main session for the final presentation, making it possible for each student to present to the entire class. This Zoom-based class achieved the basic purposes of Biblio Battle: (a) enjoying reading; (b) delivering one’s own joy of reading to others; and (c) sharing the joy of other students’ reading. This shows that an online class can match the quality of face-to-face classes in developing speaking and listening skills. In addition, through this online Biblio Battle, camaraderie was cultivated among students despite the COVID-19 environment, which has made it difficult for students to socialize and to build a community to learn together. These effects might help mitigate growing dissatisfaction with online classes which are broadly thought of as generating a feeling of loneliness among students and often seen as one-sided with difficulties of raising questions and communicating with other students. |
